NBT Junior Program

The purpose of the Junior Program is to provide young people 17 and under the opportunity to participate in tournament bass fishing. Adult anglers provide mentoring while improving angling skills and knowledge that builds a foundation for a lifetime. The NBT junior Program is an excellent way to prepare your junior angler for the High School and College Fishing Trails.

Eligibility - Anyone 17 or under when yearly membership is paid is eligible to fish as a junior angler.  The junior will fish with an adult, but only compete against other juniors.  Juniors will fish with the adult that brings them. There will be no draw for juniors. All juniors are required to have a parental release form signed before participation in any NBT event.

Fees and Payout
- Junior membership fee is $15 a year.  District tournament entry fee is $15 plus $5 optional big fish pot.  District Championship fee is $30 with optional $5 big fish per day.  National Championship fee is $45 plus optional big fish fee.  District Tournament payout is $10 per person, $5 towards National Jr. Escrow.   District Championship and Nationals payout for juniors is 100%.

JR Angler of the Month Program - Designed to recognize juniors for their achievement both on the water and off.  Each district director may nominate a junior angler for this award. Then a committee will determine the winner each month.  Criteria for the award are achievement on the water during NBT tournaments, sportsmanship, academics, citizenship and setting a good image for NBT.

NBT is currently seeking sponsorship for both Jr angler of the month and an adult incentive plan.
